Family Doctor Consultations Family practitioner consultations are designed to give you time to talk to the doctor about any specific concerns that you have. Consultations last about half an hour but they can be extended. You or a member of your family can see a family practitioner for a wide range of consultations, medicals and tests. You may be looking for a test that you know isn’t readily available on the NHS, or you are being treated by several doctors for different conditions and would like a care plan put together; or maybe you would just value the time spent talking about an existing condition to understand it more fully. During the consultation you will have time to discuss your concerns and with the help of a pre-visit questionnaire and taking a relevant medical history the doctor will be able to offer you advice, tests and/or treatment. Through our laboratory we are able to offer you over 1000 tests and profiles including immunology, genetics, biochemistry, haematology, microbiology, cytology and allergies. Some patients come to us knowing exactly what they want, but not everyone is that clear. If you are unsure as to what you require we suggest that you make an appointment for a consultation and together with the doctor you can decide which tests you require. We are also able to prescribe and dispense treatments for you in our in-house pharmacy. You are welcome to bring a partner or friend with you to your consultation. You do not require a referral to attend a WellCare consultation.
