Sexually Transmitted Infections STIs WellCare offers a discreet and confidential STI service at our clinics across England and Wales. Your Consultation During your consultation the WellCare doctor will take a relevant medical history and may carry out a medical examination. You will be counselled about the tests you wish to have and if any of them are positive, how your future medical care can be developed. Where appropriate WellCare will prescribe and dispense short term medication. Your Tests WellCare offers the latest in STI screening profiles. The WellCare "9 on 2" screen for men and women allows you to have 9 tests on two samples. There is also a range of individual screens if you have a concern about a specific infection. The WellCare "9 on 2" screen How are the test undertaken Men - one first catch urine sample and one blood sample Women - one vaginal swab and one blood sample What Tests are carried out Blood sample* HIV 1 & 2 Duo test Syphilis Swab or Urine sample Chlamydia trachomatis N gonorrhoea Herpes Simplex 1 & 11 Mycoplasma genitalium Ureaplasma urealyticum/parvum Trichomonas vaginalis Gardnerella vaginalis If appropriate this consultation will also include a bacterial swab for Candida (Thrush). *HIV 1 & 2 Duo test and Syphilis can only be tested from 4 week's post contact - if you attend before 4 week's post contact you will have to return at the appropriate time for the HIV and Syphilis blood test. If you have your HIV test before 12 week's post contact you will have to have a repeat test at 12 week's post contact. The WellCare doctor can advise you at your consultation on when to have your HIV test. Individual Tests Hepatitis A, B & C Profile -to include Hepatitis A & B Profile, Hepatitis C Antibodies and LFTs Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea DNA by PCR (swab or urine) MSU test for Cystitis / Prostatitis Bacterial swab for Candida HIV 1 & 2 Duo test (4 week's post contact) Genital wart treatment with Aldara gel HPV vaccination for genital warts (For more information on the WellCare HPV Vaccination programme please click here. ) Useful information prior to an appointment Please come to WellCare 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment time in order to complete a medical questionnaire. Please do not pass urine for at least 2 hours before your appointment as you will be required to provide a first catch urine sample on your arrival at WellCare. Confidentiality You do not need a doctor's referral to attend a WellCare General Practice consultation for tests for STI's. You do not even need to provide your real name. Whilst WellCare recommend you share any positive results with your GP, this is not obligatory. Telephone Consultation We offer a 15 minute telephone consultation with a WellCare doctor where you can discuss in complete confidence any concerns that you may have. Telephone Consultation - Up to 15 minutes telephone consultation with a doctor £ 25 How to Receive your Results WellCare will endeavour to prepare your results and inform you as quickly as possible. Depending on the tests this will take between 2 and 8 working days. Normally we will telephone you with your results as soon as we receive them, however IF you wish to make other arrangements please tell us how you would like to receive them. If a repeat test is required or the test is positive, we will phone you to arrange a convenient time for a WellCare doctor to talk to you. WellCare Home Tests All of the home tests come with easy to follow instructions. Once you have completed the test(s) return the sample(s) back to our laboratory in the pre-paid envelope provided. Your results should be ready 48 hours after you posting the sample back to our laboratory. We do recommend that in conjunction with any of our home tests, you have a telephone consultation with one of our doctors either before you carry out the tests or after you have received your results. Payment We request that payment is made at the time of booking. We accept Visa, Mastercard or Switch. If you prefer to pay by cheque or postal order, we will hold the appointment for 4 working days to allow your payment to reach us.
