Minor Surgery Procedures
Do you suffer from cysts, warts or scars on your face or body?
Maybe you have a cluster of skin tags near your eyelid or armpit?
Perhaps you have a mole that you catch when you are dressing?
Have you thought about having them removed but unsure how to proceed?
If the answer is “Yes” to any of these questions, then you may like to consider coming to WellCare Private General Practice. WellCare’s purpose built theatre has been designed to treat patients for a variety of minor surgery procedures including lesions such as sebaceous cysts, seborrhoeic warts, polyps, moles and unsightly scars, all under local anaesthetic.
WellCare's minor surgery service is led by two of the region's most experienced surgeons in their fields. Mr Michael Lutterloch FRCS is an oral and facial surgeon, specialising in surgery on the face and neck and Dr John New FRCS is a GP surgeon who specialises in minor surgery on the body and vasectomies.
Both surgeons are assisted by the WellCare practice and surgical specialist nurse, Debbie Cunnigham who is qualified to carry out certain procedures herself.
Arranging your operation at WellCare is simple. You do not require a referral from your GP although WellCare with your agreement will advise your GP on what procedures have been carried out and the results of any laboratory tests.
First you will attend an assessment consultation with our specialist nurse. At this consultation your lesion will be examined and the nurse will take a relevant medical history and a photograph. She will explain to you how the lesion can be removed. After your consultation the assessment and photograph will be reviewed by the surgeon.
In some cases it may be possible for the nurse to proceed with surgery at that consultation if you wish. If however it is more appropriate your case will be reviewed by a surgeon and you will be offered an appointment with either the surse or surgeon for surgery at a later date. Appointments for surgery can generally be made for two to three weeks after your assessment.
